Miriam Gutierrez is a Mexican American artist whose work explores the relationship between nature, culture and place. Raised in California’s Central Valley and living in Utah since 2009, she works across illustration pen and ink drawings, wood-burning and large-scale mural painting. Known for her fine detailed and textured work, she often draws from close observation and quiet moments spent outdoors, translating what she sees and experiences into intricate drawings. Her artwork is heavily inspired by nature, with a strong focus on flora and fauna, birds, insects, wildlife along with her Mexican heritage and travel experiences. Miriam’s work invites viewers to slow down and notice the beauty and complexity often found in overlooked natural spaces. Themes such as realism, nature and storytelling and deeply rooted in her work.
